This week Room 4 has been reading lots of Hairy Maclary books by Lynley Dodd. We loved them so much we sometimes made Anna read them to us again and again.
There are lots of different dog characters in the books.
Ruby came to visit Room 4. She looked like Hairy Maclary. She is black and soft. We got to pat her. When we took her for a walk we had to hold her red lead. Ruby sniffed the trees and wagged her tail. Ruby can shake her body.
Here is a vimeo of Ruby visiting Room 4 at school.
Thank you Ruby for coming to visit us.
We loved meeting you.
What Hairy Maclary stories do you like?
Who is your favourite character?
My favourite book is Hairy Maclary's Bone. I like it how all the other dogs get stuck. I really like Schnitzel von Krumm.

I like Zachary Quack because at the end of the Book they are friends because they have helped each other out and have looked after each other so the story has a nice message.
ReplyDeleteHi Room 4
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Hairy Maclary and all of his friends. I think Slinky Malinki is my favourite because he's so clever and cute.

My children who are big now loved Hairy Maclary stories. And guess what? Ms O'Neil has a dog like Schnitzel von Krumm with a very low tum.

It looks as though you had lots of fun when Ruby came to visit. I love all of this set of stories, but I think that Slinky Malinki is my favourite character, because he reminds me of my own cat!

Hi my name is Maddie
ReplyDeletewow it looks like you are having fun.I wish we could do that.
Hello Room 4
ReplyDeleteMy favourite character from the Hairy Maclary stories would have to be Slinky Malinki. I love how he hangs from the doorknob to open the door.
When my own children were younger we wrote a letter to Lynley Dodd and we received a lovely letter in return that told us about writing Zachary Quack. We still treasure that letter even though my children are now very grown up.
Have you ever written a letter to an author and received a reply?
regards
Mrs S
