Putikitiki

We went to discover another special place at our school called Putikitiki. Only children from Kauri and Totara Team are allowed to play there at lunchtime. We can go down there with our teacher. We had a great time looking around Putikitiki. Have a look at our photos to see what we saw.

We saw lots of cicada shells on the trees.

We sat down at the picnic tables.

We went down the slides.           

 

We went on the bridge.       We went up the ladder.

 

We went on the tyre swing.

We went up and down the stairs.

We loved looking around Putikitiki. It was fun to play on a different playground together.

We are involved in a great thing called Quad Blogging. We are making friends with other blogs around the world.

This week we are focusing on a great blog from Auckland, New Zealand.

Caterpillars

Room 12 had lots of caterpillars and they gave us two. We were so excited because our caterpillars had got sick and died.

Quad Blogging

We are going to be involved in a great thing called Quad Blogging.

It is a great way to connect with other blogs from around the world. 

It will also help our blog commenting skills.

The other blogs in our Quad are from England, Australia and New Zealand.

Rainy Day

We have been looking at what our friends in Australia have been learning about by looking at their blog. In KD they have been learning some nursery rhymes. We looked at the videos on their blog and started to sing along with them.

Thursday was our first wet lunchtime. While we ate our lunch we sang and Anna filmed this video of us.

Thanks to our friends in KD for teaching us. It is so great that you can learn things from looking at other classes blogs.

Hairy Maclary

This week Room 4 has been reading lots of Hairy Maclary books by Lynley Dodd. We loved them so much we sometimes made Anna read them to us again and again. 

There are lots of different dog characters in the books.

Ruby came to visit Room 4. She looked like Hairy Maclary. She is black and soft. We got to pat her. When we took her for a walk we had to hold her red lead. Ruby sniffed the trees and wagged her tail. Ruby can shake her body.

Room 4 has had a super week learning together.

Swan Plants

Room 4 has two swan plants.

 When we looked at the plants on Wednesday we only saw the green leaves.

Today we looked at a blog from Room 6 at  St Mary's School in Mosgiel. 

They also have swan plants in their class but they have caterpillars on their plants.

We went and had a look at our swan plants very carefully and we saw some tiny caterpillars on the leaves. 

Some of us are so excited we even said goodbye to the caterpillars at the end of the day.

Our First Day

Today is our first day learning together.

Some of us started school last year and for some of us it was our very first day. We welcomed everyone.

 

We went to check on how things have been growing in the garden.
