Get Firewise

Room 5 has been learning about Firewise. We know how to be safe around fires and we also know what to do if there is a fire at our house or school.

Get down, Get low, Get out FAST!

We had a special visit from Steve who is a fire fighter. He reminded us all about being Firewise and safe.

We even showed him a book we have made about being Firewise.

Buddy Day

Room 5 has made a buddy for Buddy Day.

We made a story in book creator and have made it into a movie. Take a look to find out what Buddy Bud likes to do in Room 5 at Hamilton East School.

Connected Film Festival

Last week was the first Connected Film Festival. 

Lots of classes from around Hamilton made movies.

Even some classes from Hamilton East School made movies.

Take a look at the website - move your mouse across the top and you will see a drop down box. Then you can choose which schools movies you want to see.

Room 5 has really loved watching the movies.

Lots of them make us laugh. We particularly like the ones from Cambridge Middle School, Southwell School and Vardon School. 

AND of course we love the ones from Hamilton East School too.

Sam's Plan

Yesterday Sam made an amazing vaccuum with the mobilo. She thought you could use this amazing vaccuum to suck up rats. Sam thought it would be great to use the rats and make them into reusable fuel.

Tui

We went on a walk around our school and we were very lucky to see a tui up close. It is pretty hard to see the tui in our photos. We couldn't believe it when it flew into the tree above us.

 

We don't think you'll  be able to to see the tui in this movie but you can hear it sing. 

We love listening to the tui.

Letters for Rafiki Mwema

Room 5 looks very happy in this photo. That's because we are getting ready to send stickers and letters to Rafiki Mwema in Kenya. We know how much the girls love getting stickers and mail so we hope that our mail will make them happy. 

We walked across the crossing to the post box so we can send our letters to Kenya.
