This week is Maaori Language Week - Te Wiki o te Reo Maaori.
Our goal is to use the te reo that we know.
We were surprised that we knew more than we thought.
In Room 4 we like to sing every morning. Here is a sneak peek of some songs we like to sing to greet each other in the morning.
Anna was really surprised today to find that lots of us also remember our mihis that we learnt in Term 1. Listen to Mia's mihi she recorded on the iPad using Puppet Pals.

Our blogging friends at Melville Intermediate School have great maaori language videos. Click on the photo to visit their blog.
This photo is a link to a great video that they made to teach you how to count to 10 in maaori.

So many great things and great ideas for Maori Language Week going on at Hamilton East School, I especially loved hearing the Waiata being sung, everyone did very well. Also I know Mia's Mihi is a bit old but I have to say its a great use of Puppet Pals and a lot of fun!

ReplyDeleteHi Room 4, I love your Waiata, well done. Mia your puppet Pals bird is a bit scary looking! but it's great that you remember your Mihi. If I visit you with my iPad will you show me how to use Puppet Pals? Ms Nagels
ReplyDeleteI like Mia's puppet Mihi. She is brave to say it by herself. Jaeda R2
