Toys for Rafiki Mwema

Room 5 has spent $150 of the money that they fundraised through the Seed Shop.
We have given it to Rafiki Mwema so that they can buy toys for the girls.
We think the girls will like toys like we do. We love playing tea parties, shops and with cars. We also think they might like some books too.

We are feeling very happy and proud of ourselves.
We are very excited that the girls will be happy to have some new toys to play with.

We have drawn pictures using Kidpix to show how we think the girls will feel when they get their new toys.

Letters for my Rafiki

Room 5 liked making the girls at Rafiki Mwema feel happy.

We think that other classes might like to post stickers and letters to Rafiki Mwema too. Getting stickers in the mail is a nice surprise. Sending stickers is easy because they fit in an envelope and they are not very expensive to buy or send.

This is the address to send them to -
Rafiki Mwema
P O Box 4298

Rafiki Mwema

Room 5 has some exciting news all the way from Kenya.
Our stickers and letters arrived at Rafiki Mwema.

We helped to make them feel happy. And now we feel happy and great!

We looked at the Rafiki Mwema website and saw lots of happy faces.
Room 5 is thinking about what we can do to help them next. Maybe we will send them more stickers. We are also thinking about how we can fundraise more money for them.

Rafiki Mwema Stickers

We posted some stickers to the girls at Rafiki Mwema in Kenya.

We wrote a letter and sent a photo of our class to them too.
We walked across the pedestrian crossing to post the letters.
It was raining and it was very windy. Luckily we didn't blow away!

We think the girls at Rafiki Mwema will be very happy to get mail from us.

Stickers for Kenya

Yesterday Anna gave us some stickers. We felt so happy to get a treat. We love getting treats.
Anna told us about some girls in Kenya. They are orphans. They don't have a mum or a dad to look after them. They live in an orphanage called Rafiki Mwema. People look after them there. They have beds, clothes, food, toilets, hair ties and people to care for them.

We think that just like us they would love some treats. Last year, Room 5 had a seed shop and earnt some money. There is still $50 left. Room 5 has decided to buy some stickers for the girls at Rafiki Mwema with our money. We are also going to write them some letters to make them feel happy too.
We used Google Earth to find out where Kenya is. Kenya is a long way from New Zealand.
We tried to find out how much it would cost to fly from New Zealand to Kenya. It would cost over $3000 for one person. So it would be cheaper to send the stickers by mail.
