Sunglasses

Room 5 got given some sunglasses by Visique Total Vision
Room 3 got given some glasses too because they are they other New Entrant class at our school.
We like our glasses. We look cool.
Sunglasses help us see in the sunlight and protect our eyes.

We even took a selfie on the iPad so you can see how cool we look in our sunglasses.

Thank you so much Visique Total Vision.
We love our sunglasses.

Sketching

We have been learning to sketch at school.
We have sketched things from our Papatuanuku table and a sunflower Lhyam grew in his garden.
Here are some of our sketches.

By Nicholas
Sam practiced her sketching at home.
We can learn anywhere.

Reading

We have had a fantastic week at school with lots of fun things happening.
Poukupenga, Sam, Daisy, James and Ryan have read 20 books with Anna.
Every time we read a book with Anna we colour in the next box.
It is very exciting to finish a whole strip.

We also had a visit from Kylie from School Kit.
Kylie knows Rosie and Rosie had a book to give us.
We love the book!
Kylie even gave our school library a copy of the book so other classes will be able to read all about Rosie.

Farm Trip Movies

While we were at the farm we filmed a few things. Anna put the clips together to make a short movie. You can see us walking in the paddock with the cows.

Take a look at what it was like walking through the maize -

Thank you

Thank you to the parents who came with us to the farm.
Thank you Dugan for driving the bus.

Thank you Ross from Fonterra for the delicious milk we had for morning tea.
Do you know that chocolate milk is the most popular flavour in Room 5?

Westpac bank gave Jac some jaffas to give to us.
They were very yummy.

The cows on Jac and Jeff's farm are the same type of cow as Rosie.
Rosie wasn't on the farm but she Rosie gave us a special present.
We are very lucky.

Thank you DairyNZ for organising our trip to the farm.
It was amazing.

Our Farm Trip

We are at Jac and Jeff's farm.

The calves are drinking some milk.
We had to be very quiet and sneak up so we didn't scare them.
Do you know we had to stand in the cow poo so we could watch the calves?

The milk tanker came to get the milk. It was quite noisy when they pumped the milk from the vat into the tanker.

Heidi took this photo in a paddock with the cows.
We got to walk in the paddock with lots of cows.
We walked in small groups so we could sneak up close to them.

Jac and Jeff have a dog called Keeley.
Keeley looks a little bit like a cow because she is black and white too.

There is also maize on the farm.

We sneaked through the maize all the way to Jac and Jeff's house
so we could see the ......

HENS.

We had a really fun time visiting the farm. We learnt a lot of stuff about cows and farming.
Thank you Jac and Jeff for an awesome trip.
Room 5 thinks you are amazing.

Rosie the Cow

We have been using Rosie the Cow website to find out more about farms.
We really love her movies because they are so funny and interesting.

We found out cows have 4 stomachs and they eat a lot of grass.
A cow eats 70kg of grass a day!

We also found out how they are milked.

Farm Visit

Tomorrow Room 5 is going to visit a farm.
We are very excited because we are  travelling on our school bus.
We will also get to see some cows, a milking shed and a tanker.

We have been very lucky to play with Sally's (our other teacher) farm toys.
We have built our own farms.

We need to bring shoes, a drink bottle, and our lunch.
To be safe we have to stay near the adults and do fabulous listening.
