Tui Hunt

Room 4 went on a tui hunt.
At morning tea time Katelyn noticed a tui on the bottle brush tree. Mathew wondered if that is where the tui had his nest.

Anna knew that the Tui likes to make a nest in the Redwood tree so we went to have a look. The nest is up so high we couldn't see it. The tui lay their eggs in the nest. We think that the tui makes his nest so high so that rats can't get their babies.
We went and sat under the bottle brush tree and Mr Tui came to say hello. We saw him play flying tag through the Oak trees.

Rosie's World

Last week we got to test an online game that teaches children about looking after a calf. It is called Rosie's Calf Club.
Miriam who helped to make the game came in to test it with us. We were trying to find out how well the game worked with kids who were 5 years old.

This is what we liked about the game -
I liked feeding and patting the calf. (Katelyn)
It is such a fun game because I got a lot of rewards (Caylee)
I liked feeding the calf (Mia)

You can click on the photo to take you to the game. You need your teacher or a parent to get you started with logging in. Then you can start by choosing a calf and looking after it.

Cake Feast

We had a cake feast in our classroom.
Anna had a birthday on the weekend and she made us a banana cake.
Cruz baked with his Mum and made cupcakes.
Click on the photo so you can read about how the cake tasted.

Photographers

This week children in Room 4 have been using the iPod to take photos. They each took over 100 photos. We helped Anna make a photopeach of their best photos by choosing the ones we thought were the best.

Kitchen Garden

Today we went to the Kitchen Garden with Sarah. Our peas have grown over the holidays. They are starting to grow up the stakes. There are some pea pods on them too.

We planted zucchini seeds in the tyres. You have to put the seeds in about 1 cm deep. We poked our finger into the soil to make a little hole and then put the zucchini seed in. Sarah tells us that in 7-14 days the seed will start growing.

Out and About

Today we went on the bus. Do you know where we went?
We went nowhere! We just sat on it and we talked about all the places we would like to go if we had a bus driver.

We like going on the bus because it is big. There are lots of seats on it. We love talking on the bus too.
Take a look at our wordle of the places we would like to visit in Hamilton.

First Day of Term 4

Look at all these beautiful smiles from Room 4.
We are lucky to have some new people in our class.

We have a new Reading Garden in our classroom.
We think it looks really colourful. The grass feels so soft. Our Reading Garden is a beautiful place to read.

We went for a walk around our school and saw lots of things that had changed. There were lots of flowers on the plants.
Cruz thought it would be a good idea to hug the Kauri tree because he thinks they have grown over the holidays. We all thought it was a good idea too.
We hope you have had a great first day back at your school.
What was the best thing about your day?

Before School

Look at some of the things we do before school.
When you get to school before the 9am bell goes there are lots of things you can do.
We like to
 - play with the blocks
- play outside
- play with the lego
- read
- have tea parties
- use our imagination

What do you like to do before school?
