The Head's Office

Our blog is featured on another blog called  The Head's Office.
The blog post is about blog dipping which is when you celebrate another blog by featuring it on your own blog.
We think this is a great idea because we love learning from other classes by looking at their blogs.

What blogs do you like?
What have you learnt from other classes?

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori

Room 4 has really enjoyed celebrating Maori Language Week.
Here is a movie showing some of our learning.
We used 2 apps - Sock Puppets and Puppet Pals.
Take a look at our video.

Kei te pehea koe?

Room 4 has been learning how to ask people how they feel and also to respond.
We used the iPad and a great app called Sock Puppets to record us talking to each other. We like that our voices sound different when we use Sock Puppets. Anna has made our puppet shows into a movie.

We loved listening to each other and now we all want to record ourselves speaking te reo.

Superheroes

We wrote about what our super powers would be if we were superheroes. Then we drew ourselves as SuperKids using Kidpix.

Waiata

This week is Maaori Language Week - Te Wiki o te Reo Maaori.
Our goal is to use the te reo that we know.
We were surprised that we knew more than we thought.
In Room 4 we like to sing every morning. Here is a sneak peek of some songs we like to sing to greet each other in the morning.

Anna was really surprised today to find that lots of us also remember our mihis that we learnt in Term 1. Listen to Mia's mihi she recorded on the iPad using Puppet Pals.

Our blogging friends at Melville Intermediate School have great maaori language videos. Click on the photo to visit their blog.

This photo is a link to a great video that they made to teach you how to count to 10 in maaori.

Our Kitchen Garden

Today we went to the Kitchen Garden with Sarah.
We saw that our peas had started growing. They are little.
Can you see the tiny green shoot?

Next we helped to put bark in the garden. We carried buckets with the bark in it and emptied it onto the ground by the gardens.
We worked together as a team. It was fun. Sarah was impressed that we were so strong.

Do you have a garden?
What are you growing?

Superkids

Our Big Book this week was Superkids
We loved reading it!
We thought it would be great to be a superhero.

Anna made us capes from old tea towels so we could all be Superheroes.
We had so much fun running around and using our imagination when we played.
Some of us even kept our capes on at lunchtime.

If you were a superhero what would your super power be?

New learning space

When we came to school this morning there was a blue mosquito net over one of the bean bags.
Anna didn't say anything to us about it but look how we used it today.

We think we can use this space when we use the iPod and maybe we can use it when we draw.
We also think it could be a good space to talk with each other.
Anna got this idea from Mrs Laburn and Room 3 when she visited them at Point View School in Auckland. You can have a look at their great blog Kids with a View.
Thank you to Ms O'Neil who gave us the mosquito net.  We think it is so awesome to share.

GLEE

On the last Friday before the holidays we had a great concert at school. Our talented GLEE group performed for the whole school. They were fantastic.
Take a look at the video of their singing and dancing. If you watch to the very end you will also see some great dancing and singing by Room 4.
